Not every client needs the same level of nutrition detail, and giving everyone the same format usually means over-serving some clients and under-serving others.
Here is how to decide between a structured meal plan and simple macro targets, and how each one actually shows up for a client day to day.
A plan built from specific meals assigned to breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks removes the guesswork entirely. It suits a client who is new to nutrition, or who has told you plainly that they do not want to think about food choices.
A simpler plan of daily calorie, protein, carb, and fat targets works well for a client who is already comfortable choosing their own meals and just needs a target to hit. It gives them flexibility without giving up structure entirely.
Neither choice is permanent. A client who starts on a full meal plan can graduate to macro targets once they have learned enough about their own food choices, and the reverse works just as well for a client who needs more structure than they first thought.
